In this publication, I will include a writing prompt and writing exercise from me, and at least two personally curated content on the subject of creative writing. This can be anything from poetry, fiction writing, self-publishing, traditional publishing, specific genre, etc.

Writing Prompt
My poll in last week’s issue indicated that you guys wanted more writing prompts/exercises and curated content. I will try to include at least an additional one of either in each week’s post. So here’s your 2 writing prompts this week!
Use the sentences below to start a story.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting elongated shadows across the deserted streets, he took a deep breath and made a decision that would change his life forever.
As she entered the dimly lit alley, the flickering streetlights illuminated a chilling scene that shivers down her spine.
Writing Exercise
Choose one of your characters that you think needs a bit more development. Make a list of 5-10 character traits, both positive and negative.
Create a scene or multiple scenes where your character’s traits are tested. For example, if honesty is a trait of one of your characters, put them in a situation where they are sorely tempted to lie and explore the motivations behind it. Pay attention to how these traits dictate their speech, thoughts, and actions.
Imagery
Who is the person in the image? What about the building? Was it bombed or destroyed by a natural disaster? What’s the history of the building? Does it have significance to the individiual in the photo?
