In this publication, I will include a writing prompt and writing exercise from me, and at least two personally curated content on the subject of creative writing. This can be anything from poetry, fiction writing, self-publishing, traditional publishing, specific genre, etc.
Writing Prompt
Write about someone who was once a trusted ally, but, after being betrayed, is consumed by spite and fueled by a thirst for power. They unleash a deadly poison upon civilization. Amidst the chaos, an unlikely hero emerges, tasked with restoring balance and vanquishing the darkness before it consumes everything they hold dear. Explore the themes of sacrifice, forgiveness, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.
In the dimly lit corner of a bustling pub, two strangers find themselves seated next to each other at the bar, each nursing their own drink. They strike up an unexpected conversation and a bond forms between them. Little do they know, their chance encounter is about to take an unexpected turn. Across the room, a mysterious figure discreetly slips a small tube in front of them, containing a message that will forever alter the course of their lives. With the fate of their respective marriages hanging in the balance, they must decide whether to embrace the opportunity for a fresh start or cling to the familiarity of the past.
Writing Exercise
Pick one of the simple plot structures below with examples to create a piece of writing.
Man vs. Nature: A hiker gets lost in the wilderness during a storm and must find shelter before nightfall.
Man vs. Society: A teenager rebels against the strict rules of their dystopian society to pursue their passion for art.
Man vs. Self: A recovering addict struggles to resist temptation when faced with old habits and triggers.
Man vs. Man: Two rival detectives race to solve a murder case, each suspecting the other of foul play.
Imagery
Write about this plane wreck. What kind of plane is it? Who was flying it? Did they escape or did they perish? What’s the history as to why they crashed? Is there anything valuable aboard? Where is this?
